Dr. Greenberg is a board-certified specialist in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Surgery. He specializes in the care of women with pelvic floor disorders, including urinary incontinence, pelvic prolapse, chronic pain and other specialized pelvic problems. He also continues to see patients for routine Gynecologic care.
Dr. Greenberg has historically been the leader in Western Massachusetts in advanced laparoscopic gynecologic surgery and da Vinci robotic surgery. He has the distinction of being the first gynecologist to earn certification for da Vinci robotic assisted surgery in Western Massachusetts. He was the area's first surgeon performing laparascopic supracervical hysterctomies (in the early 1990s) and was the first and only physician in Western Massachusetts to perform single port laparoscopic surgery.
Due to vision issues Dr. Greenberg stopped performing surgery in 2016 but continues to be a sought-after consultant for Urogynecologic and minimally invasive surgical problems. He also specializes in patients with chronic pelvic pain. His expertise allows him to identify patients who can be managed without surgery and his relationship with experts in these surgical fields allows him to identify and work with the appropriate surgeon for each necessary procedure. In 2019 Dr. Greenberg published the article "Musings of Surgeon as a Patient" in the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery on his own experiences as a patient.
Dr. Greenberg continues to teach advanced surgical skills in courses nationally in both lectures and simulation labs. He is on the Board of Gynesim, a non-profit surgical education and training company, and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology (JMIG).
He is a University of Massachusetts Assistant Clinical Professor in Ob/Gyn , and is actively involved in several specialty organizations related to minimally invasive surgery and Urogynecology.
When not working, Dr. Greenberg and his family are very involved with Special Olympics. He served on the Massachusetts Special Olympics Board of Directors for 10 years and coaches sports in Winter and Spring. He and his wife are avid cyclists and skiers and enjoy hanging out with their family.
